This article covers a truck in SnowRunner; for another truck based on KrAZ-255 series from Spintires/MudRunner era see: C-255
The Tayga 6455B is a truck in SnowRunner introduced in the Haul & Hustle DLC. It is a returning vehicle previously featured in Spintires and MudRunner.
A heavyweight all-terrain 6x6 truck originating from Eastern Europe. First imagined as a troop transport and logistics vehicle for the needs of the army, this twelve-ton behemoth was eventually adopted by more than just the military, finding use in a wide array of civil and commercial environments. Be it forestry, light cargo, or even logistics in the Far North - if it exists, there is probably a 6455 variant designed for it.
Unlocking[]
The Tayga 6455B is granted for completing the Starting the Plank Production contract on The Lowland map in Maine. The mission is available after completing Old Sawmill, Trailer with New Equipment and Sawmill: the final stage contracts. The player has to deliver 1 load of Long Logs, 2 loads of Medium Logs and 2 loads of Short Logs to the Sawmill Inspection to complete the contract. The Tayga 6455B is placed in the truck storage as part of the reward and the player is able to purchase the vehicle in the truck store afterwards.
Description[]
The 6455B appears to be primarily based on the KrAZ 255, an off-road Soviet 6x6 first introduced in the 1960s. This is evident by its distinguishable front end, grill design, and its use of 2 full length driveshafts for each rear axle instead of using a power divider. Much of the design has been unchanged between the 6455B and 255 but there are some noticeable changes. The 6455B hood appears to lack any vents on its sides and its headlight bulbs are quite larger. The roof of the cab on the 6455B also appears to be flatter. The front fenders also do not have a prominent arch for the wheel well when compared to the 255.
The performance of the 6455B is comparable to the 6436, but with some differences. It has a lot better clearance under the fuel tanks so it doesn't take damage as much. Its tires are one inch smaller, only being 50", but with TMHS tires it still performs well off-road as its excellent power-to-weight ratio makes it unstoppable. Additionally, it supports the bed, crane and a trailer, allowing it to haul much more cargo. Furthermore, it can carry two spare wheels through add-ons for better sustainability.
As a vehicle, the Tayga 6455B has virtually no downsides, with one of them being its exasperating unlock requirement. The vehicle itself is locked behind a long string of missions that are no trivial matters. By the time it's obtained, the bulk of the work it could have done would have been superseded by other vehicles, leaving it without a proper place to shine, although it continues to have its share elsewhere with its sheer utility.
