This article covers a truck in SnowRunner and Expeditions; for another truck based on GAZ-66 from Spintires/MudRunner era see: B-66
The TUZ 16 "Actaeon" is a truck in SnowRunner introduced in the Search & Recover DLC and in the base game of Expeditions.
A legendary light-duty truck used by the Soviet Army for logistics. Despite its significant age, the Actaeon has earned cult classic status due to its reliability and off-road performance, combined with the surprising ease of maintenance and repair. It is therefore popular to this day with fans of off-road vehicles and the armies of several countries.
Unlocking[]
TUZ 16 "Actaeon" is found via world exploration on the Lake Kovd map in Kola Peninsula. It is located in the west of the north camp. TUZ 16 "Actaeon" is granted to the player for free upon reaching it and player is able to purchase more of this vehicle in the truck store afterwards.
Description[]
The TUZ 16 "Actaeon" (romanized: Akteon) is a light duty 4x4 cabover offroad truck based off the real world GAZ-66, a legendary truck made in the Soviet union for nearly 40 years. The GAZ-66 was famed for its simplicity and reliability off-road. The Actaeon is almost identical with the only major changes being indents near the headlights and sharper edges in the cab design. The turn signal bulbs also appear larger and the grill is slightly smaller as well.
The Actaeon can best be described as a hybrid of an off-road truck and scout. It can move cargo like a truck but its also small enough to be an effective scout. Unlike other trucks the Actaeon and its brother the TUZ 108 "Warthog" have a unique selection of addons exclusive to only them. Because its limited add-ons it lacks the ability to haul cargo effectively compared to similar vehicles such as the ZIKZ 5368. It can however move smaller cargo using its sideboard bed and it can haul larger trailers.
The Actaeon despite its small size can handle mud and snow with some effort thanks to its AWD and differential lock. It can also sport extremely large mud tires allowing it to tear its way through tough terrain at the cost of having extremely poor traction on paved roads. Also, unlike other non-scout vehicles, it can equip an autonomous winch, allowing it to escape tricky situations if the engine can not start. The Actaeon tends to bounce when driven on uneven terrain which can lead to it falling over if driven aggressively.
The Actaeon sports the smallest fuel tank out of any non-scout vehicle with only 110L of fuel. However due to its light weight it is very fuel efficient allowing it to compete with scouts.
Overall though the Actaeon can struggle to find use as a cargo hauler it can find great success as a recon vehicle or a recovery vehicle while also being able to transport small amounts of cargo when larger trucks are not needed.
Pros[]
- Small size makes it ideal for hauling small loads in hard to reach areas or scouting.
- Light weight makes it very fuel efficient despite its small fuel tank.
- Unique addons that don't sacrifice performance by adding heavy weight.
- Can be equipped with an autonomous winch and active suspension.
- Light weight makes it immune to breaking thin ice and getting stuck in the sea or some deep muds.
- Can equip a bed, crane, and trailer combination though the crane's weight can cause the Actaeon to struggle a bit.
- Better offroad than scouts since it has Auto Winch plus bigger tires.
- Useful for single slot cargo missions
Cons[]
- Very stiff suspension can cause it to bounce on rough terrain.
- Struggles to pull trailers due to light weight.
- With its short nose it is vulnerable to engine damage from collisions.
Upgrade locations[]
- Raised suspension - Lake Kovd Kola Peninsula, the upgrade can be found southwest of the railway station by following the train tracks. It is near the end of the tracks close to the train tunnel.
Besides, the truck also supports upgrades that available on other trucks:
- Offroad gearbox - Drummond Island Michigan, west of the watchtower near the Island Lake gateway.
- Highrange gearbox - Mountain River Alaska, near the river that goes through the pipeline.
- IMZ-6 210 engine - Quarry Taymyr, situated at the swamp east of the service area.
- LAZ 6 T195 engine - Rift Taymyr, in the hill north of the "Landslide Mapping" contest.
- LAZ 6 TA240 engine - Flooded Foothills Yukon, just southeast of the railway station.
- Fine-tune gearbox - Black Badger Lake Wisconsin, in the swamp east of the logging station.
Expeditions[]
In Expeditions Actaeon is one of the starting trucks and a solid overall performer. A generous 6-slot inventory, sideboard add-on, decent power-to-weight even with stock engine, a "front" tire set which has better traction stats than regular doubles and very high default suspension. Its short wheelbase makes it nimble and its approach/departure angles are exceptional. It is slightly front-heavy but it rarely causes trouble as lateral stability is much more important; this can also be partially offset by always loading the sideboard bed with extra fuel/service parts.

Trivia[]
- The Actaeon is the only non-scout vehicle in the game that can be equipped with an autonomous winch.
- The Actaeon is named after the greek hero and hunter Actaeon. Actaeon after angering the goddess Artemis was transformed into a stag and hunted down by his own dogs and mauled to death.
- While the truck name - Actaeon - is spelled in English, the description used to present the name romanized from Russian - Akteon. The description was updated to say Actaeon in version 14.1 Live.
- The license plate of the truck reads "ш111га" or 'shiiiiga' which is based on the nickname of its real-life counterpart.
- The Actaeon has a unique keychain that is visible on close inspection or when using free camera. The keychain features a stag likely as a nod to the vehicles namesake. Upon close inspection the keychain appears to read "АЛТАЙ" or "Altai".
