Work in Progress..
Article Content
- The wiki contains information present in the games of the Spintires/MudRunner series and related to it, unrelated information should not be added to the articles, especially those sections that treat about overview of any game elements.
For instance, articles covering in-game vehicles should contain only information present in the game, any real world information - if actually related (in form of trivia or a reference) - should be placed in an appropriate section of the articles like Behind The Scenes or Trivia. Example content like real life history of a particular vehicle, brand or location is not related at all to either of the games and should not be included. - The content of the article should be descriptive with the most information needed, but not exceeding that, using neutral, simple, with technical manner language. Do not reduce information or compress the content of a section just for the sake of reduction, however do not try to enhance simple information with unnecessary clutter - it should be straight to the point, clear to read to the user, but contain all the vital information.
- Refrain from using shortened forms of modal verbs, for example use "do not" instead of "don't", "cannot" instead of "can't".
- Keep consistency between articles - if one article has a well-sorted paragraph that the formula of could be used in other articles concerning the same type of element, use it so the wiki remains consistent and clear to read.
- Focus on articles with bare to none content first, before moving to editing a better written and complete ones just for the sake of making an edit, unless you spot an actual error in such article that requires immediate attention.
- Sections describing in-game functionality that the player directly uses, should be written from third person perspective describing instructive nature of what player does in the game or what can be done with specific element of the game. For instance "To operate the crane, player has to open Functions menu and press a Crane mode button, player can also deploy anchors or reset position of the crane", "Using Functions menu player is able to remove the unpacked cargo", "This type of cargo requires Cargo Beds to be used to transportation".
- For walkthrough sections (for instance used in articles covering in-game missions), the second person perspective should be used to describe each step the player has to take. For instance "Approach the GMC MH9500 truck and using Functions menu, press Change Truck to select the GMC MH9500".
- Do not use comment section to discuss ideas, decisions, content changes or other technical-related aspects of the article; use discussion page of that specific article instead.
Preparing and uploading images
Images showing actual game (like screenshots) should be uploaded as an .JPG image; images showing raw elements of the UI (like truck store icons) should be uploaded as an .PNG image; images that come from promotional materials should be uploaded with their original file extension and without any alteration on the user's part.
Truck preview - in garage
- Ideally, the screenshot should be taken with all the graphical settings set to highest possible, if not possible, screenshots taken with lower quality settings and/or on consoles are still better than nothing.
- Vehicle should be positioned on the last sixth slot inside the garage and take one or two HD (1920x1080) screenshots, so they can be merged to ensure no highlighted menu buttons are visible. Example made in GIMP:
First image with visible highlighted buttons
Second image, we copy the needed part to overlap to the first image
We merge copied part with the first image so we have a one clear image without highlighted buttons
- In a graphics editing program, the visible area (final image size) should be of 1050 x 800 posited with an offset of 470 x 150 to ensure consistency among similar images.
We are adding a selection with the mentioned properties to copy the image for exporting
- When exporting the image, it should be exported as a .jpg file with manually adjusted compression level to select the highest possible quality under the size of 1 megabyte. The file name accordingly should start with Garage_ prefix, followed by acronymous name of the vehicle, for example: Western Star 47X NF 1430 -> ws47xnf1430; Caterpillar 770G -> c770g; Tatra FORCE T815-7 -> tft8157; Derry Special 15C-177 -> ds15c177 and so on.
Setting the proper export, for the file size to be just under 1MB
- When uploaded to wiki, should be made sure the name follows the convention above, for example an uploaded file under the name of "Garage_c770g.jpg".
