The Royal BM17 is a truck in SnowRunner.
Uncompromisingly reliable and brutally efficient, the BM-17 might lack the eye-catching shine of its civilian counterparts due to its military roots, but it more than makes up for it with its impressively fuel-efficient powertrain and sizeable fuel tank. Despite its superior protection of both the fuel system and suspension, the sales brochure still advises against paradropping the vehicle or exposing it to small arms fire.
Unlocking[]
- The Royal BM17 is found on the North Port map in Alaska. It is located in a marsh on the southwest corner of the map, with critically damaged components and little fuel. Once found, the Royal BM17 is granted to the player for free and the player is able to purchase the vehicle in the truck store afterwards.
Recovery note: when found the truck is essentially trapped on a small island with stock tires, effectively no snorkel and without raised suspension, it's recommended to move the BM17 to a Service Trailer rather than bring one to it.
Description[]
The Royal BM17 is based off the Scammell S24, an off-road truck built by the now defunct Scammell truck company. The Royal when compared to the S24 has more rounded edges on the front of the vehicle, primarily in the bumper and hood. its front windshield is also slightly different and appears to be a split window as opposed to the Scammell S24s solid 1 piece windshield.
The BM17, though not equipped with a differential lock, is a great off-road vehicle with its very high power-to-weight ratio. It is able to maintain traction and speed without sinking too much. As such, it's rather efficient when it comes to many jobs.
The BM-17 has a relatively large fuel tank of 280L and its fuel consumption is fairly low making it an effective choice for regions where fuel may be scarce. The BM17 also is capable of obtaining one of the highest top speeds in the game at around 60 miles per hour.
The main disadvantage of the truck is its high center of mass, making it prone to tipping over on uneven terrain when taking advantage of its speed. As with many trucks, the BM-17 cannot hitch trailers with a loading crane and a sideboard bed, so it's more useful as a hauler rather than anything else.
Overall the truck is a good choice for hauling over long distances as long the player can avoid tipping it over.
