Lift axle on the Derry Longhorn 3194
Lift axles are a vehicle mechanic introduced in SnowRunner.
Overview[]
A lift axle (also referred to as a Pusher axle) is a type of dead axle frequently used on trucks specifically designed for heavy hauling. Lift axles in their usual position are elevated off the ground to reduce tire wear and improve fuel economy when the vehicle is unloaded or when hauling lighter loads. When extra weight distribution is needed the lift axle(s) is lowered by using air bags on the axle. Lift axles are frequently used on heavy haul highway trucks and are also extremely common on dump trucks and refuse trucks. Lift axles are advantageous due to their ability to increase load weight and provide equal weight distribution.
Currently the only vehicles in game with a lift axle are the Caterpillar CT681, Derry Longhorn 3194, Kenworth W990, Western Star 47X NF 1430 and the Western Star 49X. Of these, the 47X NF 1430 is the only truck with dual lift axles, and the W990 is the only truck with a lift axle that can install the raised suspension. The lift axle in game can help reduce weight on the vehicles rear end while hauling heavy loads and provide better weight distribution akin to a lift axle in reality. it also can improve braking speed while lowered due to the lift axle itself possessing brakes. When lowered the lift axle increases ride height offering increased clearance for mud making it extremely useful in some situations. Whenever if it isn't needed, Lift axles should be raised to reduce rolling redistance and improve fuel economy.
