The Jeep CJ7 Renegade is a licensed off-road car in SnowRunner included in the Jeep Dual Pack DLC.

An offroading classic, the CJ-7 Renegade is the 1980's continuation of the CJ Jeep lineup, featuring a longer wheelbase and wider-set springs and shock absorbers, offering even more agility on harsh terrain. Like its predecessors, the CJ-7 also saw some military use - though this time, primarily in Canada.

Description[]

A retro veteran of the off-roading scene of North America, the CJ7 Renegade is a classic machine that teeters on the edge of being a somewhat modern vehicle and a timeless antique. Though it can be a capable machine in the right hands the extent of its age becomes apparent in rough terrain.

The Renegade is a compact off-roader which makes it a good choice for navigating tight areas. It has a superb turning radius thanks to its short wheelbase and its relatively tame ride height even with raised suspension makes it fairly stable in uneven terrain while also being able to clear obstacles, The vehicles relatively low center of gravity allows it to remain stable even with a roof rack while most other scouts of similar sizes would become unstable.

However despite the previously mentioned advantages, the Renegade also possesses a large number of drawbacks that severely limit its effectiveness as a reliable vehicle, Its engine selections are fairly mediocre and struggle to provide sufficient power for pulling trailers or pushing the vehicle through mud pits. Furthermore due to the vehicles low power it is very reliant on its switchable AWD for driving off-road which greatly increases its fuel consumption. Its extremely small tire size selection perform poorly in any kind of mud frequently causing the vehicle to slow down or rely on a winch to free itself.

The Renegade has a slightly below average fuel tank size of 75L. And while its engine selection does give it good fuel economy its slow speed and reliance on AWD does cause it to consume a notable amount of fuel to travel short distances.

Overall the Renegade is a poor vehicle, it can find use in select situations but it struggles to compete with its far superior sibling the Jeep Wrangler.

Pros[]

  • Smallest vehicle after DON 71
  • Very nimble with decent acceleration
  • Possesses both switchable AWD and differential locks.

Cons[]

  • Slow in mud and snow
  • Fuel hungry
  • No trailers available
  • Has virtually no edge over the Jeep Wrangler and similar sized scouts.
