The Freightliner M916A1 is a licensed truck in SnowRunner.
Please welcome the Freightliner M916A1, a heavy military grade LET truck with an engine ready to take on the wilderness! The ex-military Freightliner M916A1 is a beast off road, able to face some truly rugged environments thanks to the Stock All-Wheel-Drive.
Description[]
The Freightliner M916A1 is a truck that is more than capable of tackling even the deepest of mud and snow but is offset by its less than stellar handling traits.
The M916A1 possesses an Always on differential lock and switchable AWD giving it versatility on and offroad. Even without use of its AWD it is more than capable of fording mud thanks to its specialized off-road transmission and differential lock. It also can handle deep water as well with a snorkel and suspension lift making it a good choice for deep river crossings.
The M916A1 previously suffered from a bug that caused its steering to be very sluggish causing poor handling. The bug has since been patched letting the M916A1 to reach full potential and shine. Though its steering is now responsive the M916A1 does still suffer from oversteer due to the trucks short wheelbase. This can cause some issues with handling but it is controllable if caution is used.
The M916A1 also another issue which is the winch behind the cab. It provides no practical use and is blocking some trailers when turning. The 5 slot sideboard trailer as an example get's caught on the winch when reversing, resulting in the truck not being able to fully reverse the trailer. It also can't couple to the fuel semi trailer with that winch.
The offroad performance of the M916A1 is great, though it struggles a bit without a trailer because of the light weight on the rear. With the big tires and suspension lift combines with the tall structure of the truck caution is needed when driving on slopes as especially with a semi trailer it's quite easy to flip like the Royal BM 17. It has a powerful engine with a power to weight rating of S which is excellent, however with a fuel capacity of only 200L the M916A1 can't travel very far with it's high consumption of B-
It can also equip the small US crane, but it's not recommended as it makes the truck very top heavy and flips easily.
Overall the Freightliner M916A1 is a decent offroad truck that is capable of tackling most terrain types and excells at pulling semi trailers.
