Expeditions: A MudRunner Game is the fourth game in the series developed by Saber Interactive and published by Focus Entertainment released on March 5, 2024 on Epic Games Store, Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Playstation 4, Playstation 5 and Nintendo Switch. On February 29, 2024, the 5-day Early Unlock has been released for Steam and Epic Games Store, and on March 1, 2024, the 4-day Early Unlock has been released.

Features

  • Singleplayer and Co-op modes,[1] co-op mode was added on 18 July 2024 for Steam and on 23 July 2024 for Epic Games.[2]
  • Three different regions - Little Colorado[3], Arizona and Carpathians[4] - with 4 maps each[5], each region is set in a unique biome. Little Colorado is a prologue one, while the remaining two are the main ones.[6]
  • 16 vehicles total, each varying from each other.[7]
  • The game has 80 expeditions on the launch.[7]
  • When customizing vehicles, player decides where and what resources to put on various racks. Depending on the installed racks, players has a set of available slots they can allocate fuel, repair parts or wheels.[8]
  • A new terrain substance is added - Sand.[8]
  • Returning vehicles from SnowRunner had been reworked with entirely new textures and add-on customization, like bumpers, fenders or roof racks.[8]
  • Instead of open-world structure, player will prepare vehicles and select the mission before they start.[9]
  • User interface has been expanded with Devices and Inventory,[8] player can also trade[9] - presumably the inventory content - at the camp base.
  • Vehicles can now unwind the winch, allowing for example to abseil down the vehicles.[10]
  • Scout vehicles can now equip roof-mounted Metal Detector.[8]
  • Vehicles are equipped with Echo Sounder that shows the depth of the water[8] and can detect mineral deposits.[6]
  • Player can deploy a Reconnaissance Drone that allows to preview the area in fly mode and scan objects depending on the mission, the drone is also equipped with compass.[8]
  • Binoculars, separate from the drone, can be used to mark landmarks.[8]
  • Player can now deploy placeable Anchors as an artificial winch point[8] within a limited circular area around the vehicle.
  • Player can use Jack-Screw device to help unflip the vehicles.[6]
  • Player will be able build and manage their camp base by building research structures and hiring experts, this unlocks new skills the player can use.[11]
  • Vehicles can now adjust the tire pressure,[1] leaving a low tire pressure for a longer period damages the tires,[10] low pressure also increases fuel consumption.[4]
  • Modding is supported in similar manner to SnowRunner.[1]
