The Derry Longhorn 3194 is an 8x6 tractor unit in SnowRunner.
Originally manufactured on a repurposed ironworks site somewhere in the northern U.S., Derry Longhorn trucks have been a staple of military logistics for decades. Designed in the 70's, the 3194 is not a particularly sophisticated transport vehicle, but despite its lackluster fuel efficiency and relatively weak stock engine, it has been used by the army as a main battle tank carrier both domestically and beyond the border.
Unlocking[]
The Derry Longhorn 3194 is found on the White Valley map in Alaska on the course of the Pluck The Stuck Truck task. It is located in a ravine a fair bit of distance down the road from the Mountain River gateway, with significant damage to some of its components. Players have to tow the Derry Longhorn 3194 to the garage complete the task. The Derry Longhorn 3194 is granted to the player as a part of the reward and player is able to purchase more of this vehicle in the truck store afterwards.
Recovery note: if your truck cannot winch the Longhorn up the slope where you find it(few trucks can) you can take it down the river instead then up a much gentler slope once river turns east.
Description[]
The 3194 is primarily based off the Oshkosh M911. It is nearly identical with the exception of its hood design which is more rounded when compared to the M911s flat hood. The grill and headlights both have notable changes, the 3194 grill has smooth curves near the top while the M911 grill is almost a perfect rectangle shape. The 3194 headlights are larger with a square like shape. The side steps for the cab are also much larger with multiple steps on each side. The Oshkosh M911 also has round fuel tanks whereas the 3194 has more of a square design.
The current 3194 is a far cry from its original design introduced at game launch, now with an Always On Differential Lock and an adjustable pusher axle that improves its versatility. It is a bit lacking in engine power at stock but can easily be upgraded with a higher output engine giving it a generous amount of torque and horsepower. It can handle deep mud with some effort and even deep water due to its snorkel options providing some good clearance. Its pusher axle allows it to handle rough terrain better and can be lifted on even surfaces where extra traction isn't needed to save fuel.
The 3194 does have a few minor weaknesses that can cause problems. The main issue is its long chassis and wide turning radius, especially when hauling trailers. It also has a very limited selection of add-ons, namely two Spare Tires, Saddle High and Saddle Low, meaning it can only be effectively used to haul semi-trailers or tow normal ones, although it is reasonably effective at the matter.
The 3194 has one of the largest fuel tanks in the game with an impressive 370L. This makes it a good choice for long range hauls despite its relatively poor fuel economy.
Pros[]
- Can be found for free
- Always On AWD and Differential Lock.
- Large tires give the truck good traction with their excellent surface area.
- Large fuel tank makes it ideal for long distance hauls.
- Lift axle increases its adaptability by granting the truck a form of active suspension.
Cons[]
- Unpowered Lift axle makes it an 8x6.
- Very large turning radius for its size.
- Very few add-ons.
- Incompatible with mud tires.
Upgrade Locations[]
The only truck supports upgrades which are also available for other trucks:
- A12V-850TTA engine - Drummond Island Michigan, situated at the hill near the "Ten-Hut" task.
- Offroad gearbox - Drummond Island Michigan, west of the watchtower near the gateway to the Island Lake.
- Highrange gearbox - Mountain River Alaska, situated at the river near the pipeline.
- Westline V12 M900 engine - White Valley Alaska, near the river east of the service hub.
- Fine-tune gearbox - Black Badger Lake Wisconsin, in the swamp northeast of the log station.

Trivia[]
- Many aspects of the functionality of the 3194's pusher axle are extremely accurate.
- With it lifted the unpowered wheels will spin if mud or rocks contact the tires, but are affected by brakes normally.
- When lowered, the wheels increase rolling resistance, thereby reducing the truck's fuel economy.
- Most likely due to an oversight, the 3194's driveshaft connecting the gearbox to the transfer case does not spin when driving.
- With the 3194's lift axle raised, the driveshaft clips through it. This is because the vehicles lift axle was originally always deployed prior to an update.
