The DON 71 is an off-road car in SnowRunner and Expeditions.

The Don 71 is a Russian classic, dependable and tenacious. It may be small, but it will take you far.

Description

The DON 71 is primarily based off the Lada Niva 21213, a cross-over of a small SUV and hatchback sedan made in the Soviet union as a reliable vehicle for farmers and civilians who lived in rural areas.

The DON 71 possesses both a differential lock and AWD without needing any upgrades already giving it an advantage off-road. It also is able to equipped with the "Tuned custom" suspension lift giving it massive clearance and the ability to mount 35" tires giving it the potential to be a force to be reckoned with off-road.

The DON 71s stock engine though lacking torque does provide the vehicle with enough power to get through deep mud with low fuel consumption at the cost of overall speed. A larger engine can net it a large power and durability boost with only moderate increase in fuel cost.

The DON 71s biggest weakness however is its extremely small fuel tank. At only 42L of fuel it is the 2nd smallest fuel tank size out of any vehicle in the game. This isnt a problem with the vehicles stock engine but if a bigger engine is used it can become a problem if long distance scouting is desired.

Pros

• Can easily navigate areas with tight spaces like forests.
• Can handle some mud with a bit of effort.

Cons

• Struggles in deep mud and snow
• Struggles to pull trailers.
• Small fuel tank and low fuel storage in addons.

Upgrades

• Raised suspension - Drowned Lands Taymyr, located just outside the garage behind a house in the direction of the train station.
• Tuned suspension - Quarry Taymyr, in a bog north of the lakes central shore.

Expeditions

In Expeditions DON 71 is one of the starting cars and comes with few upgrades already installed, as well as having an always-on difflock and access to TM II/III mud tires. Despite this it makes for a poor scout because of only 3-slot inventory, 50L fuel tank, few slots, low clearance even with Lift Kit and overall small size which makes it highly affected by the terrain. Bumper add-ons noticeably decrease its approach/departure angles.

Most upgrades for the DON 71 can be found in the Carpathian region.

Trivia

• In a pre-release promotional image featuring the DON 71 and its specs, it is listed as having no option for a differential lock. A differential lock was likely added late in development to allow the DON 71 to compete with other scouts.
• The DON 71 is the lightest vehicle in SnowRunner at 1200 kg.
• The license plate on the 71 in SnowRunner reads КЭП, which translates to "cap" in english. This may simply be an abbreviation of Captain.
• The license plate on the 71 in Expeditions reads FORM1K4, which means "formika" and shows three promo materials: formicae, which translates to "ants" in english, FORMIKA, a polish company known for plastics and formica, a kind of composite that's been used as a substitute for many things.

The DON 71 SE is a variant of standard DON 71 scout in Expeditions available as a part of the Pioneer Pack.

Description

DON 71 SE is an alternate variant of DON 71 which is available as a part of the Pioneer Pack DLC, alongside with the Loadstar 1700 SE, Step 310E SE and TUZ 16 "Actaeon"#TUZ 16 "Actaeon" SE.

DON 71 SE has a different front grill and default color scheme, larger 60L fuel tank and slightly stronger engines(even though they're named the same as standard DON 71 engines) It is also more expensive.
