The Chevrolet CK1500 is a licensed truck in SnowRunner. It is the starting vehicle in the game.
An American pickup from the late 80's, this vehicle is utility to the core, but versatile enough to do almost any job. It roars like a train and guzzles gas, but makes up for it with off-road ability. The CK1500 can haul loads and pull itself out of trouble, making it a great scout for the backwoods.
A true American classic, the CK1500 is a legendary half ton pickup truck produced by Chevrolet. The vehicle appears to be a 4th generation produced in the 1990s and up until the early 2000s.
In its stock form the CK1500 is somewhat lacking, its ride height is relatively poor which combined with its lack of a differential lock and small tire size makes it struggle in mud limited its overall use. This is somewhat justified by it being the first vehicle given to the player as it serves as more of an introductory vehicle for players to learn the basics of the game mechanics.
Fortunately all of these issues can be rather quickly addressed: the Raised Suspension upgrade can be found in Black River and will allow you to jump straight to 38" all-terrain tires, the Differential Lock upgrade requires only a short trip to Smithville Dam and a Small Roof Rack with extra fuel becomes available at Rank 5. All this turns the CK1500 into a proper off-roader which can take on even Alaska.
When picking attachments keep in mind weight distribution: Trunk Repair Supplies actually benefits the vehicle as it counterbalances weight of the engine while Small Roof Rack is mostly neutral as it sits more or less in the middle. Large Roof Rack however, especially combined with Trunk Repair Supplies, puts a lot of weight on your rear wheels. Both roof racks will also make the truck less stable and more prone to tipping over, especially combined with raised suspension; this is usually not a problem but may catch players used to stock suspension off guard. Both all-terrain AS II tires and off-road OS I tires have same traction on mud so it's possible to skip off-road tires completely and go straight to mud tires when they become available.
Fuel capacity is average for a scout class at 80L of fuel. Fuel consumption is fairly high as well, especially with engine upgrades and an off-road gearbox. However it can store a generous amount of fuel with add-ons but this will affect stability.
Overall the CK1500 can best be described as a jack of all trades but master of none. It can perform most scout tasks fairly well but does not excel in any particular role.
Pros[]
Free truck available early in the game
Engageable AWD
Plenty of early free/cheap upgrades, with which it becomes extremely potent.
Cons[]
Mediocre without upgrades.
Fairly unstable with larger roof racks and suspension lift.
Struggles to compete against other later game scouts.
